Objectives: Les auteurs exposent les pièges diagnostiques rencontrés lors de la recherche ou du bilan d’un strabisme. Ces pièges sont multiples.
Dès l’examen, des anomalies palpébrales ou un angle kappa positif peuvent par exemple simuler un strabisme. A l’inverse, un strabisme peut être difficile à mettre en évidence, qu’il soit  intermittent ou minime, ou que son diagnostic  nécessite un bilan approfondi.
La recherche étiologique peut aussi constituer un défi.
Sont présentés des cas cliniques étayant ces diverses circonstances.
