Orthoptist: amblyopia, a race against the clock

Objectives: L'amblyopie est une pathologie en théorie bien connue, dépistée et donc traitée correctement.
En pratique, il est fréquent d’examiner des patients amblyopes diagnostiqués ou non quelque soit leur âge, mais qui n’ont pas été traités ou partiellement seulement.
Alors pourquoi encore de tels disparités en 2020 ?
Faut-il plutôt privilégier un traitement préventif qui sera précoce vs un traitement curatif tardif ?
Le protocole peut-il être adapté au quotidien de chaque patient ou est-il préférable un traitement « de choc » ?
Nous verrons ce qui ressort de la littérature comparé à notre expérience clinique.

Amblyopia is, theoretically, well known, so it is detected and treated correctly.
In practice, it is common to examine, in consultation, already diagnosed or not, amblyopic patients, regardless of their age, not treated or partially treated.
So, should preventive treatment, or early treatment, be preferred over late curative treatment?
Can the protocol be adapted to each patient daily life, or is it better to consider “shock” treatment?
We will see what is about literature compared to our clinical experience.
