Laser treatment of diabetic retinopathy and macular edema

Objectives: Anti VEGF theapy has dramatically changed the treatment of diabetic retinopathy (DR). Several trials have confirmed the benefit of anti VEGF therapy in PDR, and new evidence show that anti VEGF may improve DR severity, and even slower the progression of DR and the DME occurrence.
However, can anti VEGF be used as a substitute to laser treatment ?
The authors will assess the importance of performing PRP in peripheral DR, and the interest of macular photocoagulation as an adjuvant therapy to intra vitreal injections in diabetic macular edema (DME). As a matter of fact, the direct burning of capillary telangiectatic capillaries (TelCaps), whose prevalence is estimated to be around 30% of cases in patients with chronique DME, appears to be a helpful adjuvant treatment to intra vitreal injections.
Several clinical cases will be presented to illustrate the photocoagulation technique
