Visiometrics designs, manufactures and markets diagnostic instruments used by ophthalmologists and optometrists to analyse vison and detect disease due to aging, injury or inherited genetic disorders. Measuring cataract development at an early stage can suggest the optimum time for lens replacement.
The Visiometrics acuity assessment method is objective. It quantitatively measures a patient’s visual disability that will correlate with their symptoms. A light is shone into the patient’s eye and the Visometrics analyzer measures how much of the light is absorbed or scattered. This analyses two characteristics of vision: the performance of the optics of the eye and whether any pathology is affecting the quality of vision. Doctors can share the measured results with patients to help them understand their treatment needs and likely outcomes.
