Omnia Hamam, MD, DES, is a consultant ophthalmologist at Zayed Military Hospital & Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City/Mayo Clinic Abu Dhabi. She completed her fellowship in Glaucoma and Retina at Pierre and Marie Curie University in Paris and is a French board-certified ophthalmologist. Dr. Hamam worked for five years in various university hospitals in Paris, followed by two years at Quinze Vinghts Hospital, one of the largest eye centers in Europe. She was also part of the research team on ocular surfaces and glaucoma disease at the Institute du Vision in Paris.
Dr. Hamam is an adjunct assistant professor at UAE University and Head of the Scientific Committee in the Emirates Society of Ophthalmology. She is also an Arab Board Instructor at Zayed Military Hospital and Education Site Director at Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City/Mayo Clinic Abu Dhabi. She has given numerous lectures at national and international congresses.
Dr. Hamam holds four University Diplomas: DU in Glaucoma, DIU in Retinal Imaging and Pathology, DIU of Neuro-opthalmology, and DIU Ocular Inflammation and Infection.
She is particularly interested in glaucoma surgical management, innovative procedures in glaucoma and cataract, and Ocular Imaging and is passionate about learning. Dr. Hamam conducts courses and workshops on Ocular Imaging Techniques and Interpretation, Optical Coherence Tomography Angiography in Retina, Ocular Echography, Visual field of Retina, Optic Nerve Imaging, Ocular Radiology, and other related topics. She believes that learning is a continuous process that guides her through her professional journey.
