Objectives: What is SOE YO? What is the role of SOE YO? The aim of this lecture is to introduce the European Society of Ophthalmologists – Young Ophthalmologists (SOE YO). We will talk about SOE YO different aspects of work, such as YO Statute, YO Newsletters, YO Fellowships, new platforms for job opportunities, EMYO (European Meeting of Young Ophthalmologists), disparities in training programs etc. The focus will be on the main SOE YO Mission, which is to answer the needs of YOs. All YOs being members of their own National Ophthalmological Societies are members of SOE YO by definition. Thus, SOE YO is helping them to build their own international network.

Objectives: We hope this session will help you in your future carrier. After residency, deciding about the next step and choosing the right fellowship for you is key-important. I will try to answer what is the fellowship and what does it mean, what kind of fellowships exist, why the fellowship is important, how to decide to go away for a certain amount of time, different ways to get a fellowship, how to use the fellowship on the best way, how can fellowship help in the future carrier. All the explanations will be based on my personal experience and example, about doing surgical retina fellowship in Switzerland.

Objectives: Conseils pour le choix de la machine et informations précises sur les réglages adaptés aux différentes situations chirurgicales afin d’éviter les complications.

Materials / method: Présentation interactive des différents systèmes 20, 23, 25, 27-Gauge et conseils d’utilisation. Recommandations pour les tamponnements par gaz expansifs ou silicone.
Illustration de la pratique pas à pas d’une vitrectomie depuis l’anesthésie locorégiale à l’installation du patient, en précisant la pose des champs et la décontamination du site opératoire.

Results: Vidéos de : Technique simple d’anesthésie locale réalisée par l’ophtalmologiste, vitrectomie 27-Gauge pour corps flottant , biopsie du vitré pour recherche de lymphome et phaco vitrectomie pour membrane épimaculaire .

Conclusion: Cet atelier interactif doit fournir les bases nécessaires pour commencer les premières vitrectomies en s’efforçant d’apporter des solutions aux problèmes rencontrés par les débutants.

Objectives: Détailler les différentes options thérapeutiques pour la prise en charge chirurgicale de la presbytie

Introduction: La presbytie correspond à une diminution de la capacité d'accommodation

Materials / method: Plusieurs dispositifs chirurgicaux existent pour compenser partiellement ou totalement la perte de profondeur de champs.

Results: Les différents profils d'ablation cornéenne et les différentes optiques intraoculaires sont détaillés.

Conclusion: Sur la base des performances optiques de chaque solution d'une part et selon les caractéristiques du patient d'autre part, le choix de la stratégie thérapeutique adaptée sera alors discuté.

Objectives: L’objectif de cette présentation est de revoir les réflexes cliniques simples à avoir devant une diplopie, pour pouvoir orienter ensuite la démarche étiologique, en ayant en tête les drapeaux rouges qui doivent faire suspecter des pathologies graves ou nécessitent une imagerie cérébrale urgente.

Introduction: Les diplopies binoculaires sont un motif fréquent de consultation aux urgences ophtalmologiques. Les étiologies potentielles sont très variées et s’étendent de la simple décompensation phorique bénigne, à des pathologies plus graves comme le Horton. Il est parfois difficile de raisonner rapidement, quand le tableau clinique sort de la classique paralysie oculomotrice microvasculaire, que la limitation oculomotrice n’est pas visible à l’examen de la poursuite oculaire, ou quand elle concerne plusieurs muscles sans franche systématisation neurogène.
