L’Association Francophone de Strabologie et d’Ophtalmologie Pédiatrique (AFSOP) is a French-speaking scientific society resulting from the extension of the Association Française de Strabologie, whose goals are the sharing and dissemination of knowledge in pediatric strabology and ophthalmology, for the attention of ophthalmologists and orthoptists. It holds two congresses per year: one in the fall in the provinces or abroad (Francophonie) and one in the spring during the SFO congress. AFSOP is gradually putting in place summary articles, found on the site, written collectively and intended for the information of the public and professionals. A discussion forum open to AFSOP members is being set up and should allow simple and fruitful internal exchanges.

Objectives: Introduire la session DPC en présentant les facteurs amblyogènes à travers des cas cliniques

Conclusion: Le système visuel n’est pas mature à la naissance.
Le développement anatomique et fonctionnel prénatal se poursuit après la naissance pendant la première décennie de la vie, aboutissant à l’emmetropisation.
Une altération de l’expérience visuelle au cours de la période sensible du développement visuel compromet le développement normal et altère la fonction monoculaire et binoculaire; cela est responsables des AMBLYOPIE(S).
Les facteurs amblyogènes sont REFRACTIFS, STRABIQUES, ORGANIQUES

Measurement of visual acuity in the amblyopic child

Objectives: Définir les outils de la mesure de l'acuité visuelle chez l'enfant, définir l'amblyopie fonctionnelle (outils et conditions du diagnostic)

Introduction: La mesure de l’acuité visuelle est un élément clé de tout examen ophtalmologique. En fonction de l’âge, cette mesure chez l’enfant diffère de celle chez l’adulte. Chez l’enfant, elle est le principal critère de diagnostic de l’amblyopie fonctionnelle.

Materials / method: Nous détaillerons les outils de la mesure de l’acuité visuelle chez l’enfant (les échelles d’acuité visuelle, la mesure de la réfraction chez l’enfant) et comment diagnostiquer une amblyopie fonctionnelle.

Results: Il existe de nombreuses échelles d’acuité visuelles utilisées chez l’enfant, mais peu d’entre elles sont idéales. A défaut d’une excellente échelle, il faut être bien conscient des limites de celles que l’on peut utiliser. La mesure de la réfraction chez l’enfant, a fortiori en cas d’amblyopie, ne peut être qu’objective (sous cycloplégie). Le diagnostic positif de l’amblyopie fonctionnelle repose sur une différence d’acuité visuelle d’au moins deux lignes (échelle logarithmique) avec le port de la correction optique pendant un temps suffisant.

Conclusion: Le diagnostic d’une amblyopie fonctionnelle répond à des critères précis. S’ils ne sont pas remplis ou en cas de doute, il ne faut pas hésiter à revoir l’enfant.
